If you’re a sports fan and are looking for a new brilliant part-themed game for your PS3 we have some good news for you. Sports Champions 2 was released on October 30th and has made waves with beginners as well as PS3 veterans (despite the seemingly generic title it carries).
If there’s one good thing that Sports Champions 2 brings to the table then it is the incredibly versatile gameplay experience. Sony’s San Diego Studio and Zindagi Games have essentially taken some of the best gameplay attributes found in the most popular party-style games and “upped the ante” with enhanced visuals. This release incorporates 6 separate sporting events; each one of them featuring great overall design as well as excellent use of the Playstation “Move” motion controller and “Eye” camera.
Even the most popular sports-themed titles tend to stick to one type of event (the main exception to the rule being Olympic-themed games); SC2 is a glaring, yet lovable exception. Apparently quite a lot of effort went into ensuring that the controls (as well as calibration settings) were tempered to the abilities of new gamers. This is a game that virtually anyone can pick up and start playing immediately. The controls are very responsive and sensible as well; likewise, it brilliantly demonstrates the abilities of the Playstation motion technology. Basically, this is a game that is perfectly suitable for family gatherings or parties with friends. This doesn’t imply that it isn’t a solid single player game, of course; on the contrary, SC2 is also great for gamers who prefer to remain unaccompanied. Sports Champions 2 even has a “create-a-player” mode which allows you to create a virtualized version of yourself if you want (right down to the way they sound and move).
So, instead of splurging your hard-earned cash on separate titles for boxing, golfing, tennis, skiing, bowling, etc…you can simply pick up SC2 and get them all in one package. As previously mentioned, the controls for each corresponding event are very precise and extremely intuitive; everyone from your grandparents to your younger siblings should be able to participate without problems. Don’t say we didn’t warn you however, the popularity of this game around your household will probably keep your PS3 very busy indeed. This title is a budget title meaning you can pick up Sports Champions 2 for less than £20, making it a great value bundle and earning an 8 out of 10 rating.
