Fight Night Round 4 is the next instalment in EA’s well established boxing series, and is due out in July 2009 on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Fight Night Round 3 was an excellent game and EA know that the pressure is on to produce an even better sequel. EA is attempting to turn the Fight Night series into a more authentic boxing experience and is showing a hardcore approach towards the use of physics. A great deal of work is going into improving collision detection, to make the boxers look realistic and human-like, as opposed to appearing like zombies. The game will calculate the force of each blow and punch a player makes, allowing for accurate and realistic animations of the opponents boxer.

The new punching system in Fight Night Round 4 will deliver a speedier and smoother approach, eliminating the slightly robotic, repetitive feel found within Fight Night Round 3’s gameplay. Round 4 will also feature new body zoning which will vary the damage inflicted upon the player’s opponent, depending on where you punch. For instance, punching a player on the chin would inflict more damage than punching on the forehead.

The new physics engine will ensure that boxers look and fight as they do in reality. For instance, Muhammad Ali uses his longer reach to fight from the outside, and this is reflected within the game.

The graphics in Fight Night Round 4 will look superb and will surpass the impressive standards set by Fight Night Round 3. Round 4 will also include enhanced damage modelling. Since the game has more detailed collision; bruises and cuts will be placed more precisely.

While the game is showing vast improvements in authentic gameplay, EA haven’t forgotten to improve the game's overall structure. A new career mode will allow players to pick from eight weight-class divisions. World Championship is the online mode which allows players to fight for belts at regional, national, and international levels.

Fight Night Round 4 should deliver the perfect boxing atmosphere, with action packed gameplay, amazing graphics and animations, and extreme realism.
